Wizards

The Foundations Jumpstart Wizards front card was released as part of the 2024 Magic: The Gathering Foundations set. This collection was designed by Wizards of the Coast to serve as an evergreen entry point for new players, featuring a curated selection of cards that showcase the core identity and mechanics of the game's five colors and iconic creature types. The Wizards theme card acts as a deck-identifier, intended to help players quickly grasp the spell-casting focus of the archetype while maintaining a consistent visual language across the Jumpstart product line.

The aesthetic direction for the Foundations set focuses on accessibility and clarity, stripping away overly complex graphic elements to highlight the traditional fantasy art style associated with Magic's long history. The design team sought to balance nostalgia with modern production standards, ensuring these cards function as both practical markers for shuffled play and distinct collector pieces. Like many thematic front cards in this series, it serves a functional purpose in randomized deck building, intended to orient players within the broader fantasy world of the game.
