Provenance

Where it came from

The Wolves theme pack is part of the Jumpstart 2022 release for Magic: The Gathering, designed as a self-contained, randomized gameplay experience. This specific card serves as the front card for the pack, acting as a visual identifier for the tribal werewolf and wolf-themed contents tucked inside. Wizards of the Coast developed the Jumpstart product line to allow players to quickly shuffle two packs together for an immediate game, emphasizing ease of entry and thematic cohesion.

The art featured on these cards adheres to the established gothic-horror aesthetic of the Innistrad plane, where wolves and werewolves are prominent. Illustrators tasked with the Jumpstart 2022 set aimed to capture a sense of wild, moonlit intensity to ground the pack's mechanical focus on aggressive creature synergy. These cards are highly regarded by collectors for their clean, descriptive layout and the unique foil-etched treatment applied to the front cards, which sets them apart from standard expansion cards.
