Zar Ojanen, Scion of Efrava // Zar Ojanen, Scion of Efrava

The Zar Ojanen, Scion of Efrava card from the Dominaria United Art Series was released in 2022 as part of a specialty product line by Wizards of the Coast. These cards were designed to highlight the illustrative talent behind the Magic: The Gathering card game, featuring full-art versions of cards from the core set without the usual game text or borders. This specific card showcases the work of artist Lie Setiawan, who utilized a distinct digital painting style to capture the regal, lion-like appearance of the leonin character against the backdrop of Dominaria’s historical conflict.

This series was created to appeal to collectors interested in the aesthetic components of the trading card game. By stripping away the gameplay mechanics, the design emphasizes the visual narrative of the Dominaria United storyline, which focused on the plane's defense against a Phyrexian invasion. The reception among the community has been largely focused on the utility of these cards as high-quality art prints, serving as a collectible bridge between the game's functional cards and its broader fantasy illustration tradition.
