Zombie

The Zombie token, specifically collector number 13 from the Commander Masters Tokens set, was released by Wizards of the Coast in 2023. This token was designed to support the mechanics of the Commander Masters expansion, a product aimed at reprinting powerful cards and supporting the popular Commander format. These tokens are used by players to represent creatures created by various spells and abilities during gameplay, serving as a functional utility piece rather than a collectible card for deck construction.

The art direction for this token follows the established dark, high-fantasy aesthetic common to the Magic: The Gathering multiverse. While individual token illustrators are often not credited on the face of the card itself, the visual style is curated by the Wizards of the Coast creative team to ensure consistency with the set's thematic elements. It was received as a standard functional component by the player base, valued for its utility in gameplay and its thematic alignment with the black-aligned graveyard and sacrifice strategies common in Commander.
