Zombie

The Zombie token, specifically collector number 9 from the 2021 Commander set, was produced by Wizards of the Coast as a utility piece for the Magic: The Gathering trading card game. Tokens are non-playable cards used during matches to represent creatures or objects created by the abilities of main-deck cards. This particular design was released alongside the five preconstructed Commander 2021 decks, which centered around the 'Strixhaven: School of Mages' theme, providing players with the necessary physical markers to track board states during gameplay.

The artwork for this token adheres to the modern visual language of Magic: The Gathering, emphasizing a visceral, decay-focused aesthetic consistent with the creature type's long-standing representation in the game's lore. Like most tokens in the Commander series, it features a minimalist frame design meant to be easily identifiable across a table. While the specific illustrator is often credited in the product's comprehensive set files, the piece is part of a larger, functional ecosystem of tokens designed for utility rather than individual artistic prestige, resulting in a design that prioritizes gameplay clarity and thematic consistency.
