Provenance

Where it came from

The Elephant token, numbered 31 in the Commander Masters Tokens set, was released in 2023 as part of Wizards of the Coast's effort to provide high-quality, dedicated tokens for the popular Commander format. These tokens are designed to represent the 3/3 Elephant creature created by various spells, such as Elephant Ambush or Garruk, Primal Hunter, ensuring that players have a consistent and visually distinct representation on the battlefield during gameplay.

The artwork for this token adheres to the modern aesthetic established for Commander Masters, prioritizing clarity and thematic alignment with the set's high-fantasy art direction. While token art is often a collaborative effort between the art department and various freelance illustrators, these pieces are commissioned to serve as functional game components that evoke the creature's presence, generally receiving a positive reception from the Magic: The Gathering community for their utility and refined visual polish.
