Jahrbuch der Goethe-Gesellschaft ... Beilage zum bd. Mitglieder-Verzeichnis ...

The Jahrbuch der Goethe-Gesellschaft was established by the Goethe-Gesellschaft in Weimar, Germany, toward the end of the 19th century to foster scholarly research and promote the legacy of Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. This specific publication serves as a supplement to the annual membership directory, providing a snapshot of the society's organizational reach and the prominent academic figures, writers, and patrons who actively supported the preservation of Weimar classicism during that era.

The design of these supplements reflects the traditional, understated aesthetic favored by German academic societies of the period. Typically issued in simple paper wrappers, these volumes were intended for internal circulation among members rather than the general public. While they lack the elaborate illustrations of commercial literature, they are highly regarded by archival researchers and bibliographers as essential primary sources for mapping the sociological network of European intellectuals who engaged with Goethe's works in the decades following the unification of Germany.
