Jigoku Sensei Nuubee

The series centers on Meisuke Nueno, a primary school teacher who utilizes a demonic hand to protect his students from various Japanese yokai and urban legends. The character design was heavily influenced by the creators' desire to synthesize traditional Japanese folklore with the accessible aesthetics of 1990s manga. Takeshi Okano designed the titular character to be an approachable mentor figure, while the yokai designs often referenced classic Edo-period woodblock prints to ground the horror elements in cultural history.
