Jigoku Sensei Nuubee S

Jigoku Sensei Nuubee S acts as a direct continuation of the classic supernatural shonen series Jigoku Sensei Nube, which originally ran in Weekly Shonen Jump during the 1990s. Authored by Makura Shou, this revival project was initiated to bring the beloved teacher Meisuke Nueno back into the spotlight for a modern audience, blending the familiar procedural ghost-hunting format with updated artistic sensibilities that honor the original aesthetic. The work serves as both a nostalgic touchstone for longtime readers and a reintroduction of the series' unique blend of school-life comedy and Japanese folklore horror.

The character design remains rooted in the original creative vision established by Makura Shou and artist Takeshi Okano, maintaining the iconic presence of the Oni hand as a central motif. Throughout its serialization, the design choices have been praised for their ability to balance the grotesque nature of the various spirits Nueno encounters with the lighthearted dynamics of his classroom. The revival has been received as a faithful expansion of the franchise's mythos, focusing on the evolution of the characters while retaining the series' signature tone of protecting the innocence of students against the encroaching darkness of the spirit realm.
