Jigoku Sensei Nuubee PLUS

Jigoku Sensei Nuubee PLUS was created as a serialized sequel to the original 1990s supernatural horror-comedy manga Jigoku Sensei Nube. Written by Makura Shou and illustrated by Takeshi Okano, the project was designed to revisit the adventures of Meisuke Nueno, a teacher who uses a demonic hand to protect his students from malevolent spirits. The PLUS series aims to modernize the familiar formula of the original, leaning into a blend of nostalgic character dynamics and updated supernatural threats that reflect a broader interest in revisiting classic Shonen Jump titles for contemporary audiences.

The production of PLUS fits into a larger industry trend of established manga series receiving short-form or limited revivals. By maintaining the distinct artistic style of the original run while shifting the narrative focus to account for the passing of time, the creators sought to capture both the long-term fanbase and new readers interested in the series' unique brand of folkloric horror. While the original series was celebrated for its balance of slapstick humor and genuine scares, this revival is noted for its episodic nature and its commitment to the established canon of the Nueno universe.
