Where it came from
Legend of the Sun, or Taiyou no Densetsu, is a work by the prolific mangaka Ishinomori Shoutarou. Created during a period when Ishinomori was exploring various mythological and historical motifs, the work reflects his signature approach to blending imaginative narrative with a distinct, dynamic visual style that defined much of the post-war shonen manga landscape.
The design of the volume adheres to the classic aesthetic of the era, focusing on strong character silhouettes and expressive facial work that were hallmarks of Ishinomori's studio. While it remains a niche entry in his vast bibliography, the series is recognized by scholars and collectors for its contribution to the author's exploration of hero archetypes, serving as a representative example of the mid-career experimental storytelling Ishinomori pursued between his more mainstream blockbuster hits.
