Where it came from
Moriarty the Patriot, Volume 12, is part of the popular manga series written by Ryosuke Takeuchi and illustrated by Hikaru Miyoshi. Debuting in the late 2010s, the series reimagines Arthur Conan Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes mythos by shifting the focus to James Moriarty, reframing the iconic villain as a complex anti-hero attempting to dismantle the rigid British class system of the Victorian era. The series quickly gained traction for its polished, modern aesthetic and its ability to blend historical intrigue with high-stakes dramatic pacing.
This specific volume continues the overarching narrative of the manga, maintaining the stylistic collaboration between Takeuchi’s intricate plot construction and Miyoshi’s sharp, evocative character designs. As part of the official English-language release by VIZ Media, this volume adheres to the publisher's standardized trade paperback format. The series has been widely praised by readers for its thoughtful exploration of morality and social justice, carving out a distinct niche within the mystery and historical fiction genres of contemporary manga.
