Vagabond

Vagabond began serialization in 1998 in the seinen magazine Morning, authored and illustrated by Takehiko Inoue. The series is a fictionalized account of the life of the legendary Japanese swordsman Miyamoto Musashi, drawing heavy narrative inspiration from Eiji Yoshikawa’s 1935 novel Musashi. Inoue sought to explore the psychological development and spiritual evolution of a historical figure often simplified into a mythic archetype, shifting the focus from mere action to the philosophical depths of the way of the sword.
