Monkey.D.Garp (Alternate Art)

The Monkey.D.Garp leader card (OP02-002) was released as part of the Paramount War expansion for the One Piece Card Game, which debuted in late 2022. This set specifically draws from the intense Marineford arc, where Garp, a legendary Marine vice-admiral, plays a central role in the conflict. The card was designed to mechanically reflect his tactical combat style, utilizing a power-reduction mechanic that emphasizes his authority over the battlefield.

The alternate art version of this card features a unique illustration that captures Garp’s stern, commanding presence in a more stylized, cinematic aesthetic compared to the standard print. Like many alternate art cards in the early One Piece sets, this variant was sought after by collectors for its aesthetic departure from the base game art and its scarcity within the Paramount War booster boxes. It received a warm reception from players who appreciated the character-accurate focus on his strength and influence within the game's red-color archetype.
