Where it came from
The Yamato card (P-008) from Tournament Pack Vol. 1 was released in 2022 to coincide with the early promotional cycles of the One Piece Card Game. As part of an inaugural organized play reward set, these cards were specifically designed to encourage participation in local tournaments, serving as a prestige item for early adopters and competitive players during the game's initial launch period.
The design features Yamato, a pivotal character from the Wano Country arc, rendered with a distinctive holographic foil treatment common to early promotional releases. The artwork captures the character’s formidable presence, reflecting the aesthetic direction of Eiichiro Oda's character designs. Because these cards were distributed as tournament entry or placement prizes, they quickly became symbols of the game's burgeoning competitive community and are prized for their role in the historical timeline of the One Piece trading card meta.
