Yamato

The Yamato character card was released in 2022 as part of the initial set for the One Piece Card Game, titled ROMANCE DAWN. This set was designed to commemorate the twenty-fifth anniversary of Eiichiro Oda’s long-running manga series, aiming to translate the narrative’s high-stakes combat and expansive world-building into a structured tabletop experience. Yamato, a pivotal figure introduced during the Wano Country Arc, was selected for this set to showcase the game's focus on prominent, powerful allies.

The card’s illustration reflects the dramatic aesthetic established by the manga’s art style, emphasizing Yamato's iconic club and distinctive traditional attire. As an 'SEC' or Secret Rare card, this version was intended to be a centerpiece for collectors, balancing technical utility within the game's competitive meta with high-fidelity production values. Upon its release, the card received significant attention from both players and series enthusiasts, setting a precedent for the visual quality of subsequent character cards in the series.
