Where it came from
The Mew card from the Celebrations set was released in 2021 as part of the Pokémon Trading Card Game's 25th-anniversary celebration. The set was designed to be a nostalgic retrospective, featuring remakes and references to iconic cards from the game's long history. This specific card serves as a tribute to the legendary status of Mew, the Mythical Pokémon that first captured the imagination of players during the original Kanto-region era.
The design of this holo-rare card leans into the clean, minimalist aesthetic characteristic of modern Pokémon card production while honoring the character's mysterious nature. It was illustrated to highlight Mew's playful yet elusive presence, fitting into a set that prioritizes sentimental value for longtime fans. Upon its release, the card was received warmly by collectors who appreciated its accessibility compared to the more elusive secret-rare variants within the same collection.
