What it does
If you have less cards in your hand than your opponent, draw cards until you have the same number of cards as your opponent. (If you have more or the same number of cards in your hand as your opponent, this attack does nothing.)
Choose an attack on 1 of your opponent's Pokémon in his or her discard pile. Re-creation copies that attack except for its Energy cost. (You must still do anything else required for that attack.) Mew performs that attack.
Because it can use all kinds of moves, many scientists believe MEW to be the ancestor of Pokémon.

Where it came from
Released in the 2007 Secret Wonders expansion, this holographic Mew card arrived during the Diamond & Pearl era of the Pokémon Trading Card Game. The set was designed to introduce the Sinnoh region's mechanics and aesthetic to the western market, focusing on high-energy gameplay and the introduction of new evolution mechanics. Mew, a foundational Mythical Pokémon, was included as a featured psychic-type to capitalize on its enduring popularity with fans who had followed the franchise since its debut.
The artwork for this card features a distinct style consistent with the era's transition to more dynamic digital illustrations. By featuring Mew in a holographic foil treatment, the designers aimed to satisfy the high demand for 'chase' cards that appeal to both competitive players and aesthetic collectors. Upon its release, it was well-received for its versatility in deck building, specifically for its ability to mimic other attacks, which cemented its status as a staple for players navigating the competitive meta of the late 2000s.
