Where it came from
The Mew card numbered 25/25 was released in 2021 as part of the Pokémon Trading Card Game: Celebrations expansion. This special set was created to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the Pokémon franchise, featuring a main set of 25 cards that highlighted iconic designs and Pokémon from throughout the series' history. The card features Mew, the Mythical Pokémon first introduced in the original Red and Green games, serving as a centerpiece for the anniversary celebration.
The design of this particular Mew card utilizes a holographic finish consistent with the modern aesthetic of the Sword & Shield era while paying homage to the classic, minimalist layouts of early TCG sets. It was designed to be accessible to players and collectors alike, distributed within the limited-run expansion to symbolize the longevity of the franchise. It was well-received upon launch, praised by the community for its clean, elegant presentation and its role as a commemorative memento of the brand's quarter-century milestone.
