A common sight in forests and woods. It flaps its wings at ground level to kick up blinding sand.

Where it came from
Released in early 2000, Base Set 2 was designed by Wizards of the Coast as a way to keep core Pokémon cards in circulation for new players following the initial success of the Base Set and Jungle expansions. This reprint set combined cards from the original Base Set and the Jungle expansion, featuring updated set symbols and copyright dates to distinguish them from the original 1999 printings.
The Pidgey illustration was created by artist Kagemaru Himeno, a prominent illustrator whose work defined the early visual identity of the Pokémon Trading Card Game. Her design captures the classic, avian aesthetic of the Generation I Pokémon, rendered with the soft, watercolor-inspired style typical of the early TCG era. Like most common cards of the period, it was intended as a foundational gameplay piece rather than a collectible rarity, and it remains a nostalgic touchstone for collectors of the late 90s and early 2000s era.
