Where it came from
Released in 1974 on the Şençalar Plák label, this 45-RPM record features Behiye Aksoy, one of the most prominent voices in Turkish Art Music during the mid-20th century. The release highlights the popular sound of the era, where traditional melodies were often infused with contemporary arrangements to suit the flourishing cabaret and nightclub scene in Istanbul. Aksoy was renowned for her sophisticated stage presence and emotive delivery, making her a staple of the period's musical landscape.
The record pairs 'Bak Yeşil Yeşil' with 'Artık Yeşerecek Bir Dalım Yok,' capturing the melancholy and lyrical depth typical of the compositions Aksoy championed. As a catalog release from Şençalar Plák, the item reflects the prolific output of independent Turkish labels during the 1970s that were instrumental in documenting the transition of classical Ottoman-influenced music into more accessible, pop-oriented formats. These pressings remain highly sought after by collectors of Turkish vinyl for their cultural significance and the high quality of the vocal performances.
