I Can't Go This Way / I'm Gonna' Get In That Girls' Mind

Released in 1966 on the Custom label, this 45-rpm single by The Reddlemen represents the garage rock explosion that defined the mid-1960s American independent music scene. The group, hailing from the Pacific Northwest, captured the era's signature blend of raw vocal harmonies and jangly electric instrumentation, typical of regional bands attempting to mirror the British Invasion's commercial success while maintaining a distinctively local, rough-hewn aesthetic.

The record is a notable example of the era's vanity and small-run distribution models, where groups would self-finance or partner with minor labels to press limited quantities for regional radio play and local record shops. Design-wise, the release follows the minimalist aesthetic common to independent labels of the time, prioritizing functionality over elaborate sleeve art to keep overhead low. Though the band never achieved national stardom, the record remains a sought-after piece for aficionados of garage rock and sixties regional music artifacts.
