Where it came from
Released in 1982 by the Italian label Fonit Cetra, this recording of Nils Holgersson serves as a musical adaptation inspired by the beloved children's novel by Selma Lagerlöf. Produced during a period when the Japanese animated series based on the book was gaining significant traction in Europe, this record captures the whimsical and adventurous spirit of the protagonist's journey across Sweden on the back of a goose.
The artistic credit to I Fratelli Grimm on the sleeve reflects a common practice of the era where thematic or fairy-tale compilations were branded under recognizable literary monikers to appeal to a younger audience. The design utilizes the aesthetic sensibilities of 1980s Italian children's media, featuring vibrant, illustrative cover art that emphasizes the folk-adventure tone of the original narrative while serving as a companion piece to the popular television broadcast of the time.
