Nils Holgersson - Deel 2

Nils Holgerssons underbara resa genom Sverige, originally published as a geography textbook in 1906, was written by Selma Lagerlöf at the request of the Swedish National Teachers' Association. Lagerlöf, the first woman to win the Nobel Prize in Literature, crafted the story to educate children about the landscape and folklore of Sweden, seamlessly blending academic lessons with the fantastical journey of a boy transformed into a tomte. The narrative’s enduring charm led to numerous adaptations, including this audio dramatization released in 1983.

This specific recording, catalog number WSP 16026, is part of a spoken-word series produced by the WSP label to bring classic literature to a younger audience through audio. The production reflects the mid-20th-century trend of expanding literary accessibility, utilizing the immersive nature of radio drama to revisit the beloved tale. While the exact production team for this audio series remains largely uncredited in general archives, these records are recognized for maintaining the integrity of Lagerlöf's original prose while adapting it for the episodic format common in children's vinyl and cassette releases of the 1980s.
