Nils Holgersson - Nils Et Le Lutin

Released in 1984 under the Le Petit Ménestrel label, this recording is part of a storied tradition of French audio storytelling for children. The album adapts the beloved Swedish literary classic The Wonderful Adventures of Nils by Selma Lagerlöf, which tells the tale of a boy who is shrunken and begins a transformative journey across Sweden on the back of a goose. This particular production, cataloged as ALB-264, serves as an entry in the label's extensive catalog dedicated to preserving European folklore and classic literature through immersive audio experiences.

The production features the narration of Marie-Christine Barrault, a highly regarded French actress known for her sophisticated delivery and emotional range. In this role, she brings a warm, grounding presence to the whimsical narrative, carefully balancing the fantastical elements of the story with the moral weight of the source material. Her involvement reflects the label's frequent practice of collaborating with esteemed stage and screen talent to maintain a high artistic standard for their children's audio catalog, ensuring that the listener is fully engaged with the nuances of the characters and their adventure.
