Where it came from
Released in 2020 on the Cyclic Law label, Sigillum Diaboli serves as a significant entry in the dark ambient and ritual industrial discography of the Russian artist Lamia Vox. The album was conceived within the atmospheric, occult-leaning tradition that defines the label's aesthetic, which frequently explores themes of hermeticism, sacrality, and the intersection of traditional chant with modern sound design. It acts as an extension of the artist's commitment to creating immersive, dark soundscapes that evoke ancient liturgical rituals.
The production behind Sigillum Diaboli reflects the project’s signature blend of cavernous industrial textures and choral arrangements. In designing the sonic experience, Lamia Vox aimed to construct a bridge between historical religious mysticism and contemporary electronic music, utilizing heavy distortion alongside haunting, neo-classical vocal layers. Upon its release, the record was well-received within specialized dark ambient communities, noted for its cohesive narrative structure and its ability to maintain a dense, oppressive, yet meditative atmosphere throughout.
