Sonaten Für Flöte Und Basso Continuo

Released under the Telefunken label as part of their esteemed Das Alte Werk series, this collection of sonatas for flute and basso continuo features the compositions of Jean-Marie Leclair, a prominent figure in the French Baroque tradition. The recording brings together the talents of flutist Christian Lardé, harpsichordist Huguette Dreyfus, and gambist Jean Lamy, who were highly regarded for their informed and meticulous approach to historically grounded performance practice.

The design of the record reflects the Telefunken aesthetic of the era, which prioritized scholarly presentation and high-fidelity sound. By showcasing Leclair’s virtuosic and structurally sophisticated sonatas, the recording served to broaden the accessibility of French chamber music during a period when the revival of period-appropriate instrumentation was gaining significant academic and critical momentum in European classical music circles.
