Where it came from
Valsch Verbunden is a 1984 compilation released by Bellaphon, capturing the most popular prank calls from the radio segment Das Versteckte Telefon on the Swiss station Radio 24. These segments, which gained significant traction in the early 1980s, involved hosts dialing unsuspecting members of the public to engage them in increasingly absurd and comedic scenarios, tapping into the burgeoning culture of listener-interactive radio entertainment.
The album serves as a historical document of the prank call phenomenon that defined much of local Swiss radio personality during the decade. While the cover art and production were handled with the functional aesthetic typical of broadcast-related novelty albums of the era, the record remains a cult item for those interested in the history of European talk radio and the evolution of the prank call genre before the advent of the digital age.
