Xtra Xpress

Released in 1996 on the Paratone label, Xtra Xpress by X*Factory represents a specific moment in the mid-nineties underground electronic music scene. During this era, Paratone served as a home for experimental and rhythmic club music, providing a platform for artists to blend emerging synthetic textures with traditional dance floor structures. This record emerged during a period of rapid evolution for techno and house music, where independent labels frequently acted as curators for the avant-garde sounds shaping the European club circuit.

The design and production of this release reflect the utilitarian, minimalist aesthetic common to independent electronic labels of the mid-1990s. The artwork and sonic architecture were intended to prioritize the functionality of the track in a DJ environment, favoring high-fidelity pressings and crisp arrangements. While the specific intent of the artist remains rooted in the niche subculture of that decade, the record is recognized by enthusiasts for its contribution to the era's rhythmic experimentation and the label's commitment to releasing distinctive, percussion-heavy electronic works.
