Where it came from
Released in 1993 on the London-based label Disco Magic UK, X-Traordinary is a quintessential artifact of the early nineties UK rave and Eurodance scene. Disco Magic UK acted as a primary conduit for importing and licensing the high-energy Italian dance sound that dominated European clubs during this era, and this catalog entry, DMX 018, encapsulates the frantic, synthesizer-heavy production style that defined the transition from acid house to the more melodic, high-BPM Euro-trance movement.
The record was designed to cater specifically to warehouse parties and pirate radio stations, featuring the driving percussion and bright, anthemic keyboard motifs that were the hallmark of the label's output. While the artists behind the moniker were typically anonymous studio producers operating within the industrious Disco Magic ecosystem, the release remains a preserved example of the era's utilitarian approach to dance music, aimed at immediate club impact rather than long-term critical recognition.
