Where it came from
Released in 1974 on the 1 Numara label, this 45-rpm single represents a significant moment in the Turkish pop music scene of the 1970s. The duo Güzin ile Baha, consisting of Güzin Değişmez and Baha Boduroğlu, were key figures in the Anatolian pop movement, blending local melodies with Western-influenced arrangements. This specific record was produced during a period when 1 Numara, founded by Ali Kocatepe, acted as a central hub for Turkish light music, aiming to cultivate a modern sound that resonated with a changing domestic audience.
The musical direction on this record is characterized by Baha Boduroğlu’s signature production style, which prioritized melodic accessibility and professional studio polish. The pairing of 'Yanımda Sen Olmayınca' and 'Yörük Yaylası' reflects the duo's ability to balance sentimental ballads with upbeat, folk-inspired tracks. Upon its release, the record was well-received by listeners who enjoyed the polished vocal harmonies and the accessible, radio-friendly production that defined the Güzin ile Baha catalog during their most active years.
