Cocoon of Evolution

Cocoon of Evolution first appeared in the Metal Raiders booster set, released in North America in 2002. As one of the early support cards for the iconic Perfectly Ultimate Great Moth, it reflects the strategy of the original Yu-Gi-Oh! trading card game era, where players utilized specific evolution mechanics to summon high-level monsters. The card was designed to be played while equipped to Petite Moth, representing the defensive shell that protects the creature as it matures over several turns.

The card art and design were developed by Konami for the Yu-Gi-Oh! Official Card Game, originally debuting in Japan as part of the Booster 3 set. The illustration maintains the distinct, somewhat grotesque aesthetic characteristic of the insect-type monsters from the early game. Upon its release in the West, it became a memorable staple for collectors focusing on the classic Duel Monsters era, despite the mechanical difficulty of successfully summoning its evolved form during competitive play.
