Forbidden Lance

Forbidden Lance was introduced in the 2011 Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game expansion Storm of Ragnarok. As a quick-play spell, it was designed to provide a tactical defensive option, allowing players to protect their monsters from spell and trap effects by temporarily reducing their attack points. This utility made it a staple of competitive deck-building for years, as it offered a versatile way to disrupt opponent strategies while safeguarding key assets on the field.

The card’s visual design features a ethereal, glowing spear, reflecting the high-fantasy aesthetic characteristic of the set. Within the game's mechanics, the trade-off of lowering a monster's attack in exchange for immunity to spells and traps became a hallmark of tactical play. It was widely received as one of the most efficient support cards of the era, frequently utilized in both aggressive and control-oriented deck archetypes due to its flexibility.
