Forbidden Lance

Forbidden Lance was first introduced in the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game as part of the Storm of Ragnarok booster set in 2011, later appearing as a common card in the 2012 Battle Pack: Epic Dawn. Designed as a quick-play spell, the card was created to provide players with a strategic way to protect their monsters from targeted spell and trap effects by sacrificing a portion of their attack points. This mechanic made it a staple utility card, balancing offensive pressure with defensive flexibility.

The card's design features distinct fantasy artwork consistent with the 'Forbidden' series of spell cards, which often depict mysterious, sealed relics. Within the competitive landscape of the era, Forbidden Lance was highly regarded for its versatility, allowing players to disrupt opponent removals or boost their own monsters during damage calculation. Its inclusion in the Battle Pack: Epic Dawn set was intended to provide drafters and sealed-format players with a reliable, fundamental tool for interaction during gameplay.
