Where it came from
Mask of Restrict was originally introduced in the early years of the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game, designed to counter strategies that rely heavily on the tribute summon mechanic. By preventing players from Tributing cards, it serves as a niche but effective floodgate card intended to disrupt deck archetypes that focus on summoning high-level monsters from the hand through tribute sacrifices.
The version included in Structure Deck: Zombie Horde, released in 2018, features the standard common card stock and artwork consistent with the game's long-running aesthetic. While it was not a centerpiece of the Zombie Horde deck itself—which focused on the synergy between Zombie World and boss monsters like Doomking Balerdroch—its inclusion provided players with a tactical side-deck option to suppress opposing field strategies.
