Mask of Restrict

The Mask of Restrict was introduced as part of the Labyrinth of Nightmare booster set, which debuted in the North American TCG market in 2002. This set was a pivotal release for the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game, designed to expand the tactical depth of the game by introducing more specialized control cards. The card serves as a continuous trap that prevents players from Tributing monsters, a mechanic specifically engineered to disrupt dominant strategies that relied on summoning high-level creatures.

The artwork for the card follows the distinct, often eerie aesthetic found throughout the Labyrinth of Nightmare series, which drew heavy inspiration from themes of occultism and dark fantasy present in the original manga. As a card that fundamentally alters the rules of engagement on the field, the Mask of Restrict was well-received by competitive players as a potent sideboard option against decks centered around high-level sacrifices. Its original Ultra Rare printing remains a notable piece of early TCG history for collectors interested in the evolution of game balance.
