Where it came from
Mask of Restrict was first introduced during the early era of the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game, designed to counter strategies that relied heavily on Tributing monsters for Summons. As a continuous trap card, its primary utility lies in its ability to lock down mechanics like Tribute Summons and certain costs, forcing players to adapt their tactical approach when facing control-oriented decks.
The card artwork features a distinct, ominous mask motif consistent with the aesthetic of the original manga and anime series. Released as part of Retro Pack 2, this reprint served to make older, strategic utility cards more accessible to a new generation of players, maintaining the legacy of cards that define the game's foundational interaction-heavy playstyle.
