Pot of Greed

Pot of Greed first appeared in the early years of the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game, debuting in the Legend of Blue Eyes White Dragon set. Designed as a simple but powerful Normal Spell card, it allowed players to draw two cards from their deck, a mechanic that quickly made it a staple in competitive play. Its design, featuring a smiling, rotund vessel, drew inspiration from traditional Japanese folklore and aesthetic tropes found in the source manga, intending to visually represent the concept of acquisition and avarice.

The 2025 Mega-Pack Tin reissued this classic card with a Starlight Rare finish, a premium rarity tier characterized by a distinct, shimmering holographic texture that covers the entire surface of the card. This specific printing was released to cater to collectors who value high-end aesthetic upgrades for iconic legacy cards. As a cornerstone of the game's history, the card continues to be recognized for its mechanical influence, which eventually led to it being banned from tournament play for many years due to its unparalleled consistency and utility.
