Where it came from
Summoned Skull first appeared in the original Yu-Gi-Oh! trading card game sets in 2002, serving as an iconic Level 6 Normal Monster. As one of the most recognizable cards from the early era of the game, it was frequently featured in the animated series as a signature monster, valued for its high attack power relative to its tribute requirement. Its design, characterized by a striking, demonic silhouette, reflects the dark fantasy aesthetic that defined the Konami card game's initial visual identity.
The BPT-002 version released in the 2002 Collectors Tins was a promotional reprint that elevated the card to Secret Rare status, distinguished by a diagonal foil pattern that made the artwork pop. This release was part of a strategic push to capitalize on the massive popularity of the anime, offering fans a more collectible, high-gloss version of a card that had already become a staple in competitive play. It remains a cornerstone piece for collectors focused on the nostalgia of the hobby's formative years.
