Summoned Skull

Summoned Skull first appeared in the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game as a core staple of the Starter Deck: Yugi, released in the early 2000s. Designed by Kazuki Takahashi, the character was intended to be one of the most powerful and visually imposing monsters in the initial game lineup, serving as a reliable alternative to the iconic Dark Magician due to its higher attack power relative to its single-tribute requirement.

The card’s illustration depicts a demonic entity with a distinct skeletal aesthetic, reflecting the gothic-inspired design language prevalent in the early series. As part of the Starter Deck Yugi (SDY) set, it became a foundational piece for players learning the mechanics of the game. Its inclusion in promotional distributions and starter sets helped establish it as a cornerstone of the original card pool, remaining a popular subject among collectors for its nostalgic significance.
