Summoned Skull

Summoned Skull first appeared in the original Yu-Gi-Oh! trading card game sets in the early 2000s, quickly establishing itself as a flagship creature for the game. As a high-level monster with relatively high attack power for its level, it became a staple in early competitive decks during the game's formative years. The design, featuring a sinister, skeletal demon wreathed in lightning, draws heavily from dark fantasy tropes common in Japanese manga and tabletop aesthetics of the time.

The Dark Beginning 1 set, released in 2004, functioned as a compilation of cards from the earliest booster series, designed to help new players build their collections. This specific release of Summoned Skull as a super-rare variant updated the card for a new generation of players. It was illustrated with the iconic artwork maintained by Konami's design team, reflecting the aggressive, gothic style that defined the aesthetic of early Yu-Gi-Oh! card design.
