Zushin the Sleeping Giant

Zushin the Sleeping Giant made its debut in the 2016 set Dragons of Legend: Unleashed. The card is based on the 'Zushin' monster featured in the Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's anime, where it was presented as an incredibly difficult-to-summon titan that required sacrificing a monster that had been on the field for ten consecutive turns. Its transition into the physical trading card game design maintained this theme of extreme investment, requiring players to reveal a level one monster that has accumulated ten counters, reflecting its status as a card meant for specialized, high-risk strategies rather than competitive meta-play.

The card was illustrated with a focus on conveying immense scale and dormant power, consistent with the visual language of the Dragons of Legend series, which often prioritized bringing unique anime-only cards to the physical format. As an Ultra Rare print in DRL3, it serves as a collector's piece that commemorates a specific moment in the franchise's history. While its practical utility in dueling remains limited due to the difficulty of its summon condition, it is regarded by players as a fascinating mechanical artifact that tests the boundaries of card design.
