Armored Trooper Votoms: Genei ~ Phantom Arc

Armored Trooper Votoms: Genei ~ Phantom Arc serves as a continuation of the gritty, grounded mecha legacy established by Ryosuke Takahashi and Sunrise in the early 1980s. Released in 2010 as a six-episode original video animation series, it functions as a late-stage narrative chapter that revisits the protagonist Chirico Cuvie. The production aimed to bridge the gap between the original television series and the conclusion of the series' expansive timeline, maintaining the distinct industrial aesthetic that defined the franchise.

The visual design retains the iconic 'scopedog' mechanical styling that solidified the show’s reputation for tactical, low-altitude robot combat. Directed by Takahashi, the series was produced to satisfy the long-standing interest of core fans who desired a mature closure to the narrative threads left lingering after the 1980s run. It was received as a respectful and atmospheric epilogue, noted for its commitment to the show's hallmark themes of weary fatalism and mechanical realism.
