Continuing their treks through the high peaks of Japan, the mountaineering girls are back for more! First-year high school student Aoi Yukimura, a shy girl with a fear of heights, and her wildly energetic friend Hinata Kuraue set out once again to conquer the perils of backyard camping trips, summer homework, and even a climb on the mountain of their dreams. Joined by middle school student Kokona Aoba and their knowledgeable upperclassman Kaede Saitou, the squad members are ready to take on whatever slopes and challenges they might face, no matter how steep.
Through their shared hobby of mountain climbing, they bond closer than ever and even make new friends on trails all over the country. Whether it is just a local hill or the tallest mountain around, nothing is too much for Aoi and the crew to handle. They will climb, stumble, and rise to even greater heights together!

Where it came from
Encouragement of Climb, or Yama no Susume, began as a manga series by Shiro, focusing on the hobby of mountaineering through the eyes of two childhood friends. The second season, released in 2014, marked a significant departure from the short-form episodes of the first season by expanding into a full-length television format, allowing for deeper character development and more detailed depictions of the Japanese landscape.
Produced by the studio 8-bit, rather than Earth Star Entertainment itself, the second season was directed by Yusuke Yamamoto. The design philosophy centered on blending the 'slice of life' genre with technical accuracy regarding hiking and outdoor safety. It was well-received for its gentle atmosphere and the aesthetic transition from simple animation to a more immersive, lush visual style that accurately captured the geographical beauty of the mountain ranges featured in the show.
