Where it came from
Released in 2022, this short promotional film was commissioned by the Aichi Prefecture to announce the opening of Ghibli Park. It served as a visual invitation to the public, capturing the studio's philosophy of immersive, nature-focused design. Directed by Goro Miyazaki, the piece deliberately eschews high-octane spectacle in favor of the quiet, deliberate pacing that characterizes the park's atmosphere.
The production relies on Studio Ghibli's signature hand-drawn aesthetic, translating the architectural vision of the park into a fluid animation. Goro Miyazaki oversaw the design to ensure the park’s physical structures were represented with the same whimsical, organic detail found in the studio’s feature films. Upon its release, it was noted for successfully bridging the gap between Ghibli’s cinematic legacy and the physical, interactive experience of the park itself.
