A story of future Earth - A warning for mankind: In the future, our planet will be transformed into a strange new world where human life struggles on an Earth without rain or oceans - only vast, parched deserts.
Two youths fight for survival on our hostile planet and find hope. The sea, the sky and the land had been completely polluted by mankind when mysterious objects fall from the heavens. These titanic vessels smash into the planet and suck up the air, water, and most living creatures into their womb, stealing away the very essence of Earth's nature.
The few remaining inhabitants struggle for survival against a hostile environment and an oppressive ruling race known as the Rodo. One young, hot-blooded human named Ran, fights against the Rodo and a world in which rain is only a legend. He strives to join an Anti-Rodo group known as the Hazzard, not only to defeat the Rodo, but also to hunt down the man who killed his mother.

Where it came from
Green Legend Ran was produced by AIC and released as a three-part original video animation series in 1992. Emerging during the height of the early 1990s direct-to-video anime boom, the project was created as a vehicle for the musical stylings of the Japanese rock band X Japan, with the group's lead guitarist, hide, credited as a producer. The narrative centers on a post-apocalyptic world where humanity is dominated by a mysterious extraterrestrial force known as the Rohan, blending elements of high-concept science fiction with an environmentalist undertone.
The visual design of the series reflects the distinctive aesthetic trends of the early 1990s, characterized by bold character work and intricate mechanical detail. Directed by Satoshi Saga, the animation sought to provide a sweeping, cinematic experience typical of the ambitious OVA market of that decade. While the series remains a curiosity for its connection to the music industry and its thematic experimentation, it is often remembered for its unique blend of rock music integration and speculative fiction, even if the reception was mixed regarding its complex, often fragmented, storytelling.
