Hanaoka high school is an all girls' school, and the girls were pretty excited when they heard that boys were admitted into their high school. Smart and elegant boys, that's in their fantasy. Where it came from
The Green Green OVA was released in 2002 as a companion piece to the visual novel series developed by HiCom and published by Media Factory. Emerging from the early 2000s landscape of adult-oriented visual novels, the series was designed to blend romantic comedy tropes with the burgeoning genre of harem anime. The production sought to capitalize on the popularity of the source material by translating its interactive narrative into an animated format, focusing on the protagonist's chaotic life at a secluded boarding school.
The character designs were handled by the illustrator Kazuhiro Ochi, who aimed to provide a distinct aesthetic that aligned with the visual style of contemporary anime series of that era. Upon its release, the OVA was received primarily by the niche audience already familiar with the Green Green brand. It remains a representative example of how visual novel franchises were adapted for home video markets during the early 2000s, often serving as a promotional tool for the broader multimedia expansion of the property.
