Where it came from
Gundam Build Divers Battlogue was released in 2020 as a five-episode original net animation series, serving as a direct follow-up to the Build Divers Re:Rise narrative. Produced by Sunrise, the project was conceived as a showcase for the Gunpla Battle Nexus Online simulation, focusing primarily on short-form, high-intensity combat scenarios between various mobile suits rather than an overarching long-form plot.
The animation design emphasizes creative expression within the hobbyist community, reflecting the meta-narrative of the Build series where players customize their own models. While the series was aimed at existing fans of the franchise, it received attention for its fluid action choreography and the technical liberty taken with suit variants, providing a sandbox for designers to experiment with new configurations that would later influence corresponding model kit releases.
