Happiness!: Watarase Jun no Kareinaru Ichinichi

Happiness!: Watarase Jun no Kareinaru Ichinichi was produced by studio Artland and released in 2007 as an original video animation. It serves as a spin-off episode to the visual novel and anime adaptation Happiness!, focusing specifically on the character Jun Watarase. The project emerged during a period when the source material was gaining significant traction in the otaku community, leading developers and producers to explore the popularity of specific side characters through additional animated content.

The design and character direction were heavily influenced by the aesthetic sensibilities of the original visual novel, which prioritized a lighthearted, comedic tone characteristic of the mid-2000s romantic comedy genre. As a central narrative piece for Jun, the animation aimed to highlight the character's unique role within the series' social dynamics. While the broader Happiness! franchise received mixed reviews regarding its narrative depth, this specific OVA was received primarily as a niche completionist item for fans who were already invested in the internal lore of the main series.
