Himitsu Kessha Takanotsume, or Eagle Talon, began as a flash-animated series created by Frogman, the pseudonym for artist and director Ryō Ono. The series gained massive popularity for its satirical, low-budget aesthetic and its meta-humor, which often focused on the ineptitude of a secret society attempting to conquer the world. By 2012, the franchise had established itself as a cultural touchstone in Japan, leading to the creation of its dedicated portal site, himitsukesshatakanotsume.jp, which served as a central hub for the franchise's ONA (Original Net Animation) releases and promotional activities.

The site functioned as an interactive extension of the Takanotsume universe, designed to mirror the haphazard and chaotic spirit of the characters. Ono’s design philosophy for the franchise was rooted in 'deliberate minimalism,' using simplistic, intentionally rough graphics to highlight the comedic timing and improvised-sounding dialogue. The portal was received as a novel approach to transmedia storytelling, allowing the studio to rapidly distribute short-form web content directly to fans, bypassing traditional broadcast constraints while maintaining the series' signature irreverent tone.
